Sandpoint boys / Molly Burgstahler win Regional title

The Sandpoint boys varsity team won the Regional Cross Country meet Thursday, beating Moscow 26 to 32. They were lead by Regional runner-up Danny Pfeifer, who ran a 16:37, moving into 5th on the all time 25 list. Jimmy Matthews was 3rd in 16:43, moving into 7th, Evan Rains was 4th with a 17:10 moving into 16th, and freshman Sam Levora was 7th with a 17:21, moving into the 19th spot. Mason Foster rounded out the top 5 with a 17:36.

In the boys JV race, Sandpoint was 2nd overall in 4A/5A and 1st in the 4A behind a very strong showing by the top 5. Matt Pfeifer ran 18:33 (1st), Chris Jones ran 18:38 (2nd), Riley Hadeen ran 19:18 (5th), Stuart Sater (6th) was a 19:24, and Dakota Blaese ran 19:41 (9th).

Molly Burgstahler won the regional championship with a time of 20:58, and the Sandpoint girls placed 2nd to Moscow in this years race by a score of 27 to 33. Aubrie Perry ran a 21:28 for 3rd place and moving her to 22nd on the all time top 25 list, Sydney Foster ran a new PR 21:51 for 6th place, Devan Fitzpatrick was 10th and Calena Lawson was 13th for the girls top 5.

The girls JV team was 1st out of all 4A/5A team, paced by Jacey Lawson who ran a time of 22:54. Miranda Ewing ran a 23:39 for 3rd, Katie Hall was 9th in a 24:26, Bree Jones was 11th in a 24:35, and Elizabeth Kovalchuk was 16th in a 25:37.

There were 15 personal records at the meet! The state qualifiers will be running the State meet at in Soda Springs on Oct. 30th. The Girls run at 1:30 PM and the boys at 2:30 PM. Great job Sandpoint!
