The Sandpoint boys team placed 2nd at their home meet this weekend with a solid performance, scoring 47 points. They ran very well against a strong Coeur d'Alene team who placed 7 in the top 10. The boys were led by a 4th place finish by Danny Pfeifer, who ran a 16:44 and moving to #6 on the all time top 25 5k list. Jimmy Matthews ran a 16:56 in the race placing 6th. Evan Rains was 12th with a 17:26 and moved to 21st on the all time list, Alex Charvoz was 13th with a 17:28 moving to 22nd, and Mason Foster was 14th with at 17:33, moving to 25th on the all time list. Freshman Sam Levora continued to impress with a 17:52.

The boys JV placed 3rd, led James Cartwright's 18:32, Justin Odewadt with an 18:50 and Matt Pfeifer with and 18:57. James earned the 7th varsity spot for the Regional race with his outstanding performance.

The girls team continued to impress, showing pack strength and continued improvement. Molly Burgstahler led the girls with an outstanding 20:25 for 6th place. Aubrie Perry was next with a 21:41, followed by freshman Sydney Foster, Jenny Van Ooyen and Devan Fitzpatrick. Marisa Rains and Calena Lawson rounded out the top 7 for the girls, who placed 5th in the meet.

The girls JV placed 2nd to CDA Charter's varsity squad. 3 girls were under 24, with Miranda Ewing placing 4th in a 23:08, Jacey Lawson 8th with a 23:45 in her first race ever, and Katie Hall 9th with a 23:51.

There were over 30 PRs this weekend on the scenic course, making for a very successful day. The meet was dedicated in memory of teammate Will Johnson who passed away this last December. The team's next race will be Regionals on Thursday October 21st at Hellsgate State Park in Lewiston. The first race starts at 2:20 PM, check the site schedule for driving directions.
