Mountain West Invitational

The Sandpoint boys placed 13th out of 46 teams at the highly competitive Mountain West Classic Invitational this weekend in Missoula, MT. Leading the boys team was Jimmy Matthews, who was 44th out of the 347 runners in the race. Jimmy ran a 16:30 over the 3 mile course and was followed by Danny Pfeifer who came back from his sickness this week, running a 16:54 and placing 73rd. Evan Rains was next with a 17:16, followed by Alex Charvoz with a 17:25. Sam Levora ran a great race, finishing 5th for the team with a 17:40 and earning the #17 spot on the all time 3 mile list.
In the JV race, the boys placed 20th out of 69 teams. The were lead by James Cartwright, who ran a 18:35, earning himself a spot on the varsity roster for next week. Chris Jones was next with a 18:40, followed by Dakota Blease, Riley Hadeen, and Levi Speakman to round out the top 5.
The girls varsity placed 24th out of 43 teams, and was lead by Molly Burgstahler, who ran a 20:25. Aubrie Perry was next with a PR of 21:20, followed by Sydney Foster, Devan Fitzpatrick, and Jenny Van Ooyen. This was a great showing considering the girls were missing their number 3 runner due to injury. 4 girls also moved up on the top 3 mile list. Aubrie Perry moved to number 11, Sydney Foster to number 17, Devan Fitzpatrick to 20, and Jenny Van Ooyen to number 22.
The girls JV placed 29th out of 46, even though they were missing 2 of their top scorers because of injury, and 1 to sickness. Katie Hall led the girls with a time of 23:21, followed by Liz Kovalchuk, Serena Fisher, Bree Jones, and Jonnie Branning.
This was an enormous meet with very competitive teams, with almost 1800 runners finishing the 4 races. Sandpoint did a fantastic job of competing with them even with runners out due to injury and sickness.
