The Sandpoint boys varsity team won the Regional Cross Country meet Thursday, beating Moscow 20 to 43. They were lead by Regional Champion David Marinaeu, who ran a 17:00. Danny Pfeifer was 2nd with a 17:04 and freshman Alex Charvoz ran a 17:42 to place 3rd in the race. Tim Householter was 4th for the team and Jimmy Matthews was the 5th scorer. Evan Rains and Galen MacDonald rounded out the varsity team.

In the boys JV race, there were 12 team competing and the Sandpoint boys were 3rd overall behind CDA and Moscow. Kevin Clyde ran an 18:30 to finish in 7th place, Mikka Nostdahl was 10th with an 18:58, Mason Foster ran a 19:42 for 17th and Chris Jones ran a 19:46 for 18th. It was a great performance, even with so many out sick.

The Sandpoint girls placed 2nd to a very strong Moscow girls team. Molly Burgstahler was 3rd overall with a 20:56. Virginia Faulkner-Monks ran a personal record of 22:16 for 9th place, Becca Cloud ran a 22:56 followed by Aubrie Perry and Miranda Ewing, with in the low 23s. Shanysa Reid and Hope Woodruff rounded out the top 7 girls who qualified for state as a team.

The girls JV team was 2nd out of 12 to Moscow, paced by Marisa Rains who ran a 23:23. Audrey Shaw, Jenny Pujesek, Ashley Anderson and Serena Fisher rounded out the top 5 for the JV girls.

The state qualifiers will be running the State meet at the Circling Raven on Oct. 31st. The Girls run at 11 AM and the boys at 12 PM.
