Sandpoint Boys Win home Invite, Girls 2nd

The Sandpoint boys rolled through their home meet, winning with a score of 31 without top runner Ephriam Weisz. They were led by Sophomores Jett Lucas and Nikolai Braedt who ran 16:40 for 3rd and 4th place respectively out of the field of 47 runners. They were followed by Brady Nelsen in 7th with a 17:09, Kieran Wilder in 9th with a 17:24, Seth Graham in 11th with a 17:36 and Gabe Merithew in 14th with a 17:46. They continued to pack up strong, and had a solid contribution from Kieran Wilder who was back from injury and returning to early season form.

On the girls side, Timberlake won the meet with a 36, and Sandpoint placed 2nd with a 45. Niah Brass led Sandpoint's pack with an 8th place 20:54 out of the 31 Varsity runners in the race. Paige Davidson was right behind in 9th with a 20:58. Bionce Vincent was in 10th at 21:00, Chloe Braedt in 11th with a 21:07, Corina Wallace in 12th with a 21:15, Megan Oulman in 18th with a 22:03, and Mesa Keating in 20th with a 22:15.

The JV Boys team won with an impressive score of 19. Trey Clark was first in the race with a time of 18:01 out of the 69 runners. Keegan Nelson was 3rd in 18:04, Tyler McNamee was 4th in 18:06, Jason Leedle was 5th in 18:32, Gabe Christman was 8th in 18:45, Sloan Woodward was 9th in 18:47, and Ben Ricks was 10th in 18:49.

The girls didn't have a full team after losing lead running Quinn Hooper mid race, but the 4 girls in the race all set personal records. Chloe Pierce broke Varsity Standard by running a 23:09 for 4th place of the 31 runners. Elisa Eastly was 6th in 23:27, Kenzie Suhy-Gregoire was 8th in 23:59, and Lydia Nelsen was 11th in 24:16.

It was a blustery fall day, with wind speeds reaching up to 30 mph, but the teams showed grit with 21 personal records. Next week Sandpoint will be in Lewiston for the Inland Empire Classic, which is a preview of the Regional and State Championship course as well.
