Sandpoint Girls Place 3rd at 4A State Championships10/28/2017 For the 4th time in 5 years, the Sandpoint Girls Cross Country team has earned a podium position at the State Cross Country meet. The girls placed 3rd with 96 points, behind Skyline (54 points) and Twin Falls (58 points). Hannah Davidson led the girls with an 8th place finish in 19:35, earning her XC State Medalist honors for the 3rd time. Katherine Kaul returned from injury to place 14th in 19:57, and earning her State XC Medalist honors for the 4th time in her High School career. That has only been achieved by 3 other Sandpoint runners in the history of the program. As they have done the entire season, and for the past 5 years, the girls won on pack strength. Kali Scheel was 23rd, running a 20:25, Ciera Bailey was 29th in 20:48, Heather Wallace was 30th in 20:51, Niah Brass was 31st in 20:51, and Farli Boden was 33rd in 21:00. The boys team came up short of their State goal this weekend as lead runners Ephriam Weisz fought off sickness and Cole Dillon was tripped and took a hard spill 1/2 mile into the race, spraining his ankle. Cole got up and pushed has way to the finish, leading the team in 40th place with a time of 17:35. Garrett Pierce was next in 17:37, Brady Nelsen was 3rd on the team with a 17:51, Ephriam Weisz and Peik Lund-Andersen both finished in 17:54. Tyler McNamee and Kieran Wilder were the 6th and 7th runners. That officially wraps up the racing season for the 2017 Sandpoint Cross Country Team.
