Sandpoint had 2 track meets last week. Tuesday, the JV athletes competed at JV Regionals at Lake City High School. There were 23 PRs 12 medalists at the meet. Taitam Bowen took 1st in the 200 and 3rd in the 100 (29.14/14.02). In the girls 400 Heather Yunek was 1st overall with a 1:05.78, and Paige Davidson was 2nd in 1:06.59. Paige was also 3rd in the 300m hurdles with a 53.32. Mesa Keating had a PR 6:23 in the 1600 to place 3rd. Elaine Huang won the High Jump in 4'6", and Kailin Shaffer was 3rd in the Long Jump with a 12'5.5". On the boys side, Connor Moreno place 2nd in the High Jump and set a PR at 5'2". In the 1600 Gabriel Merithew took first place in a 5:05, and teammate Gabe Christman was 2nd in 5:09.63.

On Friday, the team was at Timberlake High School to compete at their annual invitational with 15 other schools. The girls team won the meet, scoring 155.5 points to out pace 2nd place Lakeland's 110.5. The boys were 2nd in the meet, scoring 104.5 and coming up 7 points short of Lakeland's 111.5. There were 13 PRs and 22 medalists at the meet.

Jazmin Stockton was 2nd in both the 100 and 200 (13.28/27.53), setting PRs in both. In the 200 she was joined as a medalist by teammate Valerie Wickboldt who was 3rd in 27.90. Hannah Davidson won the girls 800 in a 2:27.5, while also taking 5th in the 400 and anchoring the 3rd place 4x400 relay. YeoWon Yarnell was 3rd in the 800 (2:31) and placed 4th in the 400 (1:03.79). Katherine Kaul won the mile with a 5:32, and was 2nd in the 3200 in 11:46. Niah Brass placed 5th in the mile with a 5:46. Paige Davidson was 3rd in the 300h with a PR of 52.49. Brooke David placed 4th in the 100h with a time of 17.70, and teammate Jaelyn Martin was 5th in 17.71. The girls 4x100 team of Martin/Stockton/Wickboldt/Bowen took first in 52.55, the 4x200 team of Beaty/Stockton/Wickboldt/Martin was 2nd in 1:51.86, and the 4x400 team of Davidson/Kaul/Brass/Beaty was 3rd in 4:30. Elaine Huang set a PR of 4'8" to place 2nd in the High Jump. Freshman Maddie Morgan continued to impress in the jumps, placing 2nd in the Long Jump and Triple Jump, with Sharon Rowe placing 3rd in the Triple Jump.

For the boys, Spencer Bassett continued to jump well, placing 1st in the Triple Jump and 2nd in the Long Jump. Cole Hooper placed 2nd in the Pole Vault with a 12'9" vault, with teammate Slade Rucker close behind in 4th at 11'3". Finan Lund-Andersen placed 2nd in the true mile with a 4:38, and Ephriam Weisz was 3rd in 4:44. There were multiple 5th place finishes, including Gabe Merithew in the 3200 (10:53), Peik Lund-Andersen in the 800 (2:07), Kyle Almeida in the 400 (:54.73), and Erik Suhr in the 200 (24:32). The boys 4x100 team of Suhr, Ollerton, Bassett and Witthaus placed 2nd in 45.26, while the 4x200 team of Ollerton, Bassett, Barajas and Johnson were 1st with a 1:35.28. The team of Deiter/Hunsaker/Finney/Almeida was 4th in the 4x400 in 3:45.

Sandpoint competes at the District I Meet of Champions this Thursday in Post Falls, and will compete at the Regional Championships on May 11th and 12th..
