Sandpoint Sweeps Regional Cross Country Meet

The Sandpoint Cross Country team swept the 4A team titles for the 4th year in a row at the Regional Cross Country meet at Farragut State Park today. The girls scored 20 points to win, Moscow was 2nd with 59 and Lakeland who scored 62 to place 3rd. Katherine Kaul led the girls team with a 19:47, and placing 2nd in the race. She was followed by Hannah Davidson in 3rd, Heather Wallace in 4th, Rainey Woodward in 5th, Dana Beaty in 6th, Sharon Rowe in 7th, and Niah Brass in 8th out of the 21 runner field. It was a dominate performance as the girls won their 4th straight Regional Title and brushed up for the State Meet on October 29th.

The boys team also won the 4A Regional title, scoring 29 points in the race. Moscow was 2nd with 40 and Lakeland placed 3rd with 57. Leading the boys was Fin Lund-Andersen, who placed 3rd in a 16:40. Cole Dillon was 5th, Clay Rasmussen 6th, Reilly Wolfe was 7th, Peik Lund-Andersen 8th, Riley McGinnis 10th and Sloan Woodward 17th out of the 21 runner field. The pack strength of the boys helped them win their 4th consecutive Regional Title as well.

In the girls JV race, Sandpoint had the top 5 runners, and 8 of the top 9 to win with a perfect score of 15. Lakeland was 2nd with 51 and Moscow 3rd with 74. Farli Boden won the race with a time of 22:04. Chloe Braedt was 2nd, Corina Wallace 3rd, Mesa Keating 4th and Paige Davidson 5th, Erin Meek 7th and Chloe Pierce 8th round out the top 7 in the field of 40 runners.

The boys JV finished in dominant fashion, also winning the team title with a 15 points. Sandpoint had the top 8 spots in the race, starting with Ephraim Weisz winning with an 18:05. Next was Story Crossett in 2nd, Gabriel Merithew in 3rd, Kyle Almeida in 4th, Garrett Pierce in 5th, Dutton Rogers in 6th and Wyatt Hagen in 7th to round out the scoring 7 in the field of 57 runners.


Today was another fantastic day for SHSXC. Thank you to all JV runners who are done for the year, we are proud of you and all you accomplished this season. Those going onto State will run on October 29th in Pocatello.
