Sandpoint Sweeps Team Titles at Regional XC Meet

The Sandpoint Cross Country team swept the 4A team titles at the Regional Cross Country meet at Farragut State Park today. The two time 4A defending State Champion girls scored 20 points to win, Moscow was 2nd with 53 and Lakeland who scored 62 to place 3rd. Katherine Kaul led the girls team with a 19:47, and placing 2nd in the race. She was followed by Hannah Davidson in 3rd, Cori McClelland in 4th, Rainey Woodward in 5th, Sharon Rowe in 6th, Claire Pierce in 8th and Niah Brass in 10th out of the 21 runner field. It was a dominate performance as the girls won their 3rd straight Regional Title and brushed up for the State Meet on October 31st.

The boys team also won the 4A Regional title, scoring 30 points in the race. Moscow was 2nd with 41 and Lakeland placed 3rd with 65. Jacob Graham, who is recovering from mono, watched from the sidelines as his team used a solid pack to dominate the race. Leading the boys was sophomore Fin Lund-Andersen, who placed 4th in a 17:12. Cole Dillon was 5th, Reilly Wolfe was 6th, Mark Kennaly was 7th, Clay Rasmussen 8th, Peik Lund-Andersen was 9th and Dutt Rogers was 10th out of the 21 runner field. The pack strength of the boys helped them win their 3rd consecutive Regional Title as well.

In the closest race of the day, the girls JV team won the Regional Title with a score of 28, Moscow was 2nd with 35 and Lakeland 3rd with 66. Farli Boden won the race with a time of 21:58. Dana Beaty was next in 2nd with a time of 22:17, Chloe Braedt was 6th, Clara Sallent was 8th, Erin Meek was 12th, Saydee Brass 14th, and Lindsay Baumman 17th to round out the top 7 in the field of 39 runners.

The boys JV finished in dominant fashion, winning the team title with a 17 points. Leading the way was Sloan Woodward, who won the 4A race with a time of 19:03. Next was James Bradley in 2nd, Riley McGinnis was 3rd, Daniel Radford 5th, Quinn Donnely 6th, Gabe Merithew 8th and Wyatt Hagen 9th to round out the scoring 7 in the field of 44 runners.


Today was another fantastic day for SHSXC. Thank you to all JV runners who are done for the year, we are proud of you and all you accomplished this season. Those going onto State will run on October 31st and Farragut State Park. The girls race will be at 10:30am and the boys will run at 12:00pm.
