Sandpoint 2nd place at CDA Hayden Canyon Invite

Coeur d'Alene High School hosted the Super One Cross Country Invitational at Hayden Canyon this weekend. There were 19 school in attendance, and school ran in 1 race and had the results separated into Large school/Small school at the finish list. In the large school division, the Sandpoint Boys and Girls teams both placed 2nd. The boys team was narrowly beaten by Coeur d'Alene (35 to 37). The boys were running without 3rd running Cole Dillon who was home sick, but the depth of the team showed as they were able to beat Cheney and Lake City, earning the 3rd place State ranking that came out this week. Up front for the boys once again was Jacob Graham, who placed first in the Large School Division and 3rd overall in a time of 16:53. Fin Lund-Andersen was next placing 6th, Clay Rasumussen was 8th, Mark Kennaly was 10th, and Reilly Wolfe was 12th for the scoring 5. Dutt Rogers was 17, and James Bradley was 18th for the scoring 7.

The girls race was just as close with Coeur d'Alene beating Sandpoint 40 to 43 in scoring. The girls was also running down, as 3 girls were running with the latest Fall cold, but still showed their pack strength and dominance that has earned them the #1 4A ranking in the State. Scoring the meet out with both Large and Small schools, the girls showed their pack strength is great for larger meets because they were first out of the 12 schools, beating Coeur d'Alene 63 to 65. Katherine Kaul lead the girls team this week with a 4th place finish in the Large School Division, and 5th place overall in a time of 20:13. Cori McClelland was 5th, Hannah Davidson 6th, Claire Pierce 11th, and Niah Brass 17th for the scoring 5. Sharon Rowe was 20th and Rainey Woodward, who was racked by a massive sideache, was 24th to round out the scoring 7.

In the JV races, both the girls and boys ran outstanding showing the overall depth of the entire team. There were 18 total personal records and 14 course records broken today. The girls team placed 2nd out of 7 full teams behind the solid running of Farli Boden and Dana Beaty, who were 4th and 5th overall. Also scoring for Sandpoint were Chloe Braedt, Erin Meek and Clara Sallent. The JV boys took 3rd out of 11 full teams. The were led by Peik Lund-Andersen (8th), Sloan Woodward (9th), Daniel Radfor (14th), Ike Rogers (18th) and Kyle Almeida (19th). Sandpoint be racing again next weekend, October 10th, at the Inland Empire Klassic in Lewiston.
