Sandpoint wins Dual meet with Timberlake08/29/2015
Air quality and fire danger in Libby caused the Libby Invitational to be canceled this year, so Sandpoint and Timberlake quickly scheduled a dual meet at Travers Park this Saturday in order to get a quality early season race in. The girls' race kicked off first, and the SHS girl's team picked up where they left off at the end of last season, running as a quality pack and winning the dual by a score of 22 to 37. Taylor Hammond of Timberlake won the girls race with an impressive 18:32 over the 3 mile course. Katherine Kaul placed second with a 19:07, Hannah Davidson 3rd in 19:38, Rainey Woodward 4th in a 19:41, Cori McClelland was 6th in 19:46, and Claire Pierce was 7th in 20:17 to round out the scoring 5. Sharon Rowe and Niah Brass were 9th and 10th, placing in front of Timberlake's fourth and fifth scoring runners. Hannah Davidson also moved to 7th on the all time SHS 3 mile list, Cori moved to 9th, Sharon to 16 and Niah to 17th with their times. It was a great way to start off the season.
The boys' race went much the same way, with the Sandpoint boys winning by a score of 21 to 39. Jacob Graham won the race in a time of 16:01 and moving to #2 on the all time SHS 3 mile list. Following him was Fin Lund-Andersen in 3rd (16:50 #9), Clay Rasmussen in 4th (17:01 #13), Mark Kennaly in 6th (17:18 #21), and Reilly Wolfe was 7th (17:31 #25) for the scoring 5. Cole Dillon placed 8th in 17:32 and James Bradley rounded out the Varsity 7 in 17:54. The boys formed 2 solid packs in the middle to win the dual.
In the JV races, the boys won by a score of 17 to 46, showing the teams depth. Sloan Woodward was first overall in the boys JV race in a 18:07, followed by Dutt Rogers in 18:39, and Ike Rogers in 18:30 who were 2nd and 3rd. Quinn Donnelly was 5th in 18:47 and Kyle Almeida was 6th in 18:57 to round out the scoring 5. Timberlake did not field a full girls JV team, but Dana Beaty was the first JV runner in a time of 22:06. In all, there were 35 PRs out of the 42 runners for Sandpoint. Sandpoint will run their next meet on September 12th at Farragut State Park.

inspirations
One late afternoon, after swimming in a lake, he began to jog around to ease his chill. Soon enough he found himself running for the sheer exhilaration of it, across the moor and toward the coast. The sky filled with crimson clouds, and as he ran a light rain started to fall. With the sun warming his back, a rainbow appeared in front of him, and he seemed to run toward it. Along the coast the rhythm of the water breaking against the rocks eased him, and he circled back to where he had begun. Cool, wet air filled his lungs. Running into the sun now, he had trouble seeing the ground underneath his feet, but still he rushed forward, alive with the movement. Finally spent as the sun disappeared from the horizon, he tumbled down a light hill and rested on his back, his feet bleeding, but feeling rejuvenated. He needed to reconnect to the joy of running, to get away from the tyranny of the track
