The Sandpoint Track and Field team hosted their home invitational this week, and the conditions were ideal for great performances. In the 1600 Hannah Davidson set a new PR of 5:49, finishing third in the race. She was followed closely by Clair Pierce in 5:50, Qetzal Hogue in 5:58 and Cori McClelland in 6:08. For the boys 1600, Jacob Graham was not able to hold off a late surge by Lakeland’s Cooper Haney, taking second by .3 second in 4:44. Sam Powell was third (4:45), Chris Cordova fourth (4:48), Finan Lund-Anderson fifth (4:49 PR), Kenny Kovalchuk 6th (4:50), Matt Cloud 7th (4:54), Andy McGinnis 8th (4:55 PR) and Peik Lund 9th in 5:00 (PR). Quinn Donnelly also set a PR with 5:22, Ike Rogers 5:23 (PR), Clay Rasmussen a 5:24, Kyle Almeida a 5:37 (PR) and Logan Finney a 6:15.
In the 800, Mikhaela Woodward was 1st, running a State leading 5:25. She was followed by Sharon Rowe (2:41), Cori McClelland (2:42), Heather Yunek (3:03), and Jacqueline Owens (3:26). For the boys Ike Rogers led the way with a sixth place finish, running a PR of 2:25. Logan Finney finished in a a 2:47. The 400 was also exciting with Lauren Orr placing 4th in a 65.53. Grace Bradley ran a 66.86 PR out of heat two, and Maddy Kleinkauf ran a 1:16. In the boys race Mark Kennaly ran a 51.02 to win the race. James Bradley continued to improve with a 56.9, Teagan Dieter a 57.18, and Payton Finney finished in a 1:02.3.
The last distance race of the day was the 3200, and Claire Pierce won it for the girls in 13:10.27. Qetzal Hogue was 2nd with a 13:15.55. For the boys Jacob Graham won the race with a 10:22. Sam Powell was 2nd with 10:28 (PR), Chris Cordova was 3rd with a 10:35 (PR), Matt Cloud 4th with a 10:35 (PR) also, Andy McGinnis was 6th in 10:45 (PR) and Quinn Donnelly was 8th in 11:46. Cole Dillon also set a PR with an 11:59, Daniel Radford finished wit ha 12:13 and Dutt Rogers a 12:20.
