Sandpoint Boys win Regional Title

The Sandpoint Boys Track team won their second straight Regional title this weekend with 75 points, defeating Moscow and Lakeland by scores who had 61 and 50 points respectively. The girls team was second behind Moscow by a score of 75 to 64. The distance team earned 27 points on the boys side, and 33 points on the girls side (including the 4x400 and Medley relays). 16 athletes earned a trip to State, which takes place next Friday and Saturday and Donna Larson Park in Boise.

For the girls, Mikhaela Woodward repeated as 1600 and 3200 Regional Champion again this year. She ran an 11:47 in heavy wind, and a 5:19 to earn first place in each race. Rainey Woodward earned the 800 Regional Champion title with a new School Record 2:21.1 performance. Lily DeAragon won the 400 in a time of 1:01.08. Sydney Foster was 4th in the mile with an 8 second PR of 5:37, Bree Jones was 4th in the 800 with a 2:37, and Lauren Orr was 4th in the 400 with a 1:04. Mikhaela, Rainey, Lily and Lauren combined to win the 4x400 in 4:09, which ranks them second in the State and 4 second off of the school record. Rainey and Lily also teamed with Lani Wahl and Madi Schoening to win the Medley Relay in a time of 1:54.

For the boys, Sam Levora won his 3rd 3200 Regional title, followed by 5 more Sandpoint runners in a sweep of the event. In second was Jacob Graham with a 10:44, Matt Cloud in 3rd with a 10:49, and Alan Orr in 4th with a 10:53. For the 1600, Sam Levora placed second with a 4:28, and Jacob Graham was 4th with a 4:48. In the 800, Matt Burgstahler placed second and set a new School Record with a time of 1:57.46. Alan Orr was 4th with a 2:13. In the 400, Mark Kennaly set a new PR, placing 3rd in :52.56. Matt, Sam, Mark and Wyatt Cox teamed up to run a 3:28 4x400, placing second and just barely missing the school record. In the Medley relay, Wyatt, Kyle Perry, Matt and Sam also took second with a 3:40.
