Sandpoint Girls Win 4A State Championships

The Sandpoint Girls won their second State 4A title this weekend at Russ Freeman park in Idaho Falls. They beat Preston with a score of 101 to 102. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Mikhaela Woodward in a time of 20:11 and placing 6th out of 108 girls. Following close behind was Rainey Woodward, who ran a 20:23 and placed 8th. Just outside of State medalist honors was Cori McClelland in 22nd with 21:17, Sydney Foster in 28th with a 21:26, and in the 5th scoring position was Bree Jones in 59th with a 22:25. Lauren Orr and Claire Pierce ran 6th and 7th for the team. This is the first State title for the girls since 2002.

On the boys side, Sandpoint placed 9th out of 14 teams. The boys were led once again by Sam Levora, who placed second in a time of 16:20. Sam Powell, Jacob Graham, Alan Orr, Chris Cordova, Matt Cloud and Mark Kennaly were the other runners on the boys team today. This was a great improvement for the boys team over the last year!

The Awards banquet to celebrate our season will be on Tuesday, November 12 at 6pm at the Charter School.
