Sandpoint Wins Libby Invite

The Sandpoint Girls and Boys Varsity teams placed 1st at the Libby Invitational this weekend. The girls team beat Glacier Peak by a score of 43-44, and outpaced Timberlakes 66 for the win. They were led by Mikhaela Woodward 20:08 4th place performance (6th All-Time 3 mile list), and followed closely by Sydney Foster (5th place 20:26), Rainey Woodward (7th place 20:50 #14 All-Time List), Cori McClelland (12th place 21:11 #16 All-Time List) and Emily Marshall (15th place 21:54). With only 5 girls running Varsity the girls showed great 5 pack strenght.

The boys won the meet with 51 points over Whitefish (59) and Glacier Peak (54). Sam Levora won the boys race in a 15:24, moving his school record down from 15:55. He was followed by Sam Powell (9th place 17:29 #14 on the All-Time List), Jacob Graham (10th place 17:34 #16 on the All-Time List), Mark Kennaly (17:59), Chris Cordova (18:11), Alan Orr (18:12) and Adam Bourn (18:16).

In JV, both boys and girls also won the team races. Kenny Kovalchuk was first in the race with an 18:10, Andy McGinnis 2nd in 18:20, and Matt Cloud 3rd in 18:58. For the girls Lauren Orr was 3rd in 23:24, followed by Dana Beaty also in 23:24, and Katie Nicolich in 24:31.
