Sandpoint Cross Country held their annual Time Trials today at Travers park, and had 7 boys and 5 girls break the Varsity Standard over the 5k course. The girls were led by 2012 State Medalist Mikhaela Woodward who finished in 20:06. Rainey Woodward was 2nd with a 21:28, followed closely by Sydney Foster (21:30) and Corri McClelland (21:32). Emily Marshall rounded out the top 5 with a 22:49.
For the boys, 2012 State Runner-Up Sam Levora cruised to his 3rd Time Trial win with a time of 16:22. Sam Powell cut over 2 minutes off of his time from last year, finishing 2nd in a time of 18:01. Jacob Graham was 3rd, cutting nearly 90 seconds off of his time from last year in an 18:22. Alan Orr (18:55) and Adam Bourn (19:17) rounded out the top 5. Mark Kennaly and Chris Cordova will also be running Varsity with their times.

People can’t understand why a man runs. They don’t see any sport in it. Argue it lacks the sight and the thrill of body contact. Yet, the conflict is there, more raw and challenging than any man versus man competition. For in running it is man against himself, the cruelest of all opponents. His adversary lies within him, in his ability, with brain and heart to master himself, his emotions and his pain.
